This key position will provide you with the opportunity to serve as the Resident Engineer for the construction of various water and wastewater facilities.
Our Resident Engineers:
•Carefully plan and manage the project, communicate exceptionally well with the project team, and work to mitigate or eliminate project risks that threaten schedule, budget, safety, or quality.
•Act as the primary project interface with the client, designer, contractor, operation staff, and ongoing construction contracts as well as outside agencies/stakeholders.
•Monitor the construction contractors operations for process conformance with the approved construction documents including but not limited to the project contract, specifications, quality control plan, safety plans, schedule, request for information (RFIs), change orders, pay requests, record drawings and contract closeout.
•Actively manage and report on the status of the project schedule and budget. Monitor and document contract progress and make recommendations to engineer and client for contractor payments, change orders, and requests for information (RFIs).
•Effectively lead project meetings with engineers, contractors, clients and stakeholders.
•Conduct site meetings, coordinate and oversee field activities for testing and inspection reviews.
•Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management and performance.
•Conduct constructability reviews and reports of project designs prior to construction.
•Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractor, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.
•Demonstrate effective risk management and mitigation practices through proper risk identification, assessment, tracking and communication.
•Play a role in client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, oral presentation, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes.
•Establish project forecasts, schedule, financial reports and prepare invoices. Ensure that senior management is apprised of all deviations from the project baseline data (i.e. original scope, schedule, budget, etc.)
#BIA•Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline is required•At least 8 years of experience in construction management/resident engineering experience is required•Proficient with web based construction document management platforms•Excellent team leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver results•Working knowledge of construction scheduling and document controls software•Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams•Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong data analysis & technical problem solving skills•Fluent in spoken and written English•Must be proficient in the use of computer to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook•Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling•Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site
