Senior IT Ops Engineer

Scientific Games, Inc. Alpharetta, GA Full-Time
Position Summary

Job Description:

Responsible for maintenance and support of Scientific Games on-premise and co-location facility corporate private cloud infrastructure.

  • Project based new system implementation including rack and stack, cabling, builds, system performance analysis, and vetting
  • Monitor and assess health and security of environments and report and provide preventative measures
  • Provide patching support based on corporate compliance standards
  • Maintain required data backups and restoration based on SLAs and data retention policies
  • Provides onsite support during system implementations and system overhauls
  • Troubleshooting of production problems including defining root causes and solutions
  • Support during a 24x7x365 on call rotation
  • Provides support to other SG technical teams including Networking, Information Security, Applications, Facilities, and Development
  • Maintain technical documentation of environments
  • Communicate and document technical incident details
  • Remotely build, configure, and manage Windows Server and Linux enterprise systems
  • Create, maintain, and update troubleshooting procedures, knowledge base articles, and technical bulletins

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Required Technical Experience:
  • Windows Server (2008+) administrative experience
  • Windows AD administrative experience
  • Linux (Ubuntu 12+ or RHEL 6+) administrative experience
  • Virtualization technology and administration experience (VMware a plus)
  • Hands-on experience implementing Windows Server based server architectures
  • Hands-on experience implementing Linux Server based server architectures
  • Hands-on experience implementing physical and virtual server architectures (HPE & Dell a plus)
  • Hands-on experience implementing SAN storage architectures (HPE & Dell a plus)
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or MySQL
  • Fundamental knowledge of scripting practices for Windows PowerShell, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, as well as SQL query authoring
  • Fundamental knowledge of network communications
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work and prioritize with minimal direct supervision
  • Comfortable working within a disbursed team over a wide geographic area
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Associate degree in a related field of study required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Years of Related Experience
  • Min 12 years' experience in an information technology field.
  • 2/3+ years of experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux Operating Systems

Work Conditions:
  • 24/7/365 On call rotation
  • Some projects/tasks may need to occur during off-hours maintenance windows
  • Hybrid remote and on-premise support
  • Travel to in-state SG campus and co-location facility required
  • Minimal out of state travel may be required
