Job Description
Ares Management Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our Corporate Accounting team focused on operating expenses, including accruals, monthly expense analyses and management reporting.
The Ares Corporate Accounting Department oversees and manages the financial statement close process and internal and external financial reporting for the public management company. Under the leadership of the Chief Accounting Officer, the Corporate Accounting Department is comprised of functional teams that operate collaboratively to oversee operating expenses, revenues, consolidation and SEC reporting. The Corporate Accounting team has close working relationships with external service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure the reporting of accurate results both internally and externally.
This role will require a dynamic, adaptive and agile hands-on professional who will be capable of ensuring optimal processes in a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.
The new Senior Associate will be primarily responsible for the following tasks:

The anticipated range for this position is $120,000- $130,000 annual base salary plus annual discretionary performance-based bonus. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and performance. Benefits would include:

The new Senior Associate will be primarily responsible for the following tasks:
- Liaise with external professional service firms and internal stakeholders to gather relevant information and prepare professional service and marketing accruals and related analyses
- Review journal entries and cash reconciliations prepared by third party cash reconciliation team
- Perform monthly and quarterly analyses of operating expenses for Senior Management
- Prepare departmental operating expense analyses and review with Department Heads
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Partner with internal and external auditors and internal legal, tax and relationship management groups to provide ongoing support and resolve issues
- Collaborate with peers in Accounting and other departments in various locations across the globe to implement best practices and drive process improvements
- Assist in completing ad-hoc requests and special projects
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Master's Degree in Accounting considered a plus
- CPA preferred
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant professional experience in public accounting and/or industry experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools a plus
- Experience with Oracle Fusion a plus
- Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player
- Ability and desire to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment often requiring fast solutions to complex problems

- Good judgment in terms of escalating issues vs. solving problems independently
- An analytical mind and a passion/interest in bringing new ideas to increase efficiency of existing processes
- Comfort in dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Ability to be flexible in terms of hours in order to coordinate with team members across various time zones
- Willingness to take on new projects and learn new skills
Compensation
