Job Title: Director of Supply Chain

Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA

Overview 

A well-known cannabis company is currently experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a motivated and determined individual with strong analytical skills to take on the role of Supply Chain Director. The ideal candidate will ensure projects start and finish on time by paying attention to details from product development through packaging of cannabis finished goods. As such, the Supply Chain Director, liaises with Product Development, Design, Sourcing, Quality Control and Marketing departments to ensure products are executed on time.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with Marketing on new product development and product improvements
  • Sourcing vendors for raw materials, branded merchandise & packaging
  • Develop tools to support sourcing initiatives (RFIs, RFQ, etc.)
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers based on market intelligence and data
  • Conduct market research as necessary to support strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Research and vet potential supplier, vendors and sub-contractors
  • Analyze price proposals, data, quality and service
  • Identify and develop suppliers, implementing new programs and developing requests for
  • proposals
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement best-in-class sourcing activities, including
  • commodity management and supply base streamlining
  • Generates vendor analytics reports for management as requested
  • Meet with vendors and build and maintain trusted relationships and negotiate pricing
  • Work efficiently and effectively with internal customers and external suppliers
  • Work with sales team to ensure products meets market standards
  • Build product release plans that include product quality goals and testing, documentation, support training, sales training, and marketing preparation
  • Maintain accountability and inventory of all raw materials and finished products to ensure that is consistent and always available
  • Provide leadership to ensure that safety and company policies are adhered to consistently and effectively
  • Maintain a running estimate of project milestones and deliverables
  • Project management of multiple product launches in varying phases from conception through development and finally packaging
  • Manage allocation and sourcing of internal and external resources
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, manage/prevent risk, and maintain an effective business continuity strategy
  • Provides guidance in the creation of and revision to Standard Operating Procedures and
  • Manufacturing Batch Records

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Sourcing experience for consumer products (packaged goods preferred)
  • 3 years’ experience in regional industry logistics
  • Experience in the Food, Tobacco, Liquor, Pharmaceutical or Cannabis industry
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning and resource allocation)
  • Safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory processes experience
  • Able to define a winning business strategy and product quality
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, critical thinking, problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work alone and represent the company properly
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
