Job Description

This request is for 3 temp-to-perm opportunities. Based on experience, the selected candidates will fill one of three titles: 
Accountant II 
Accountant Sr. 
Accountant Lead. 

Pay ranges will also depend on experience and range from $31 - $46.

Accountant II will prepare Journal entries, reconciliations and PBCs. 

Senior and Lead will  be helping with monthly review of journal entries, reconciliations, flux and trend analysis, and preparation of financial statements and audit PBCs 

Requirements: 5 or more years’ experience in Accounting and/or Audit experience, Attention to detail, Team-oriented, independent worker,  critical thinker.

Desired Skills: Reconciliation reviews, Financial statement preparation experience, Variance analysis,  Knowledge of Energy Industry, Experience preparing PBCs.

General Overview:

At an expert level, leads or assists on accounting related projects and provides expertise in the areas of financial and acquisition accounting, cost management, activity management, process improvement, internal controls, management and financial reporting, and strategic planning. Supports and advises staff, manages projects, helps set goals and direction of department and advises management on impact of new accounting regulations on business operations and reports. This position requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects. Progression to this level is limited based on business requirements.   - Provides financial and managerial accounting assistance to business units (BU’s) in support of activities, performance measurement and reporting. Performs detailed technical financial analysis and budget-to-actual analysis on an as needed basis. - Analyzes existing processes and identifies opportunities for process improvement based on trends in process performance and a sound understanding of the business process. - Develops and reviews financial policies and procedures, including technology and/or business process changes. - Designs, produces and reviews financial, managerial and regulatory reports. - Researches industry and accounting literature in order to stay abreast of emerging issues. This may include interpreting PUC rules, state and federal legislative bills, and new accounting standards. Communicates impact to executive management. Develops a plan and implements applicable changes by required deadline. - Confirms accounting transactions and reports are in compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) standards.   This general overview only includes essential functions of the job and does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in business with 24 or more college credit accounting hours including intermediate accounting plus eight or more years’ experience in accounting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of accepted accounting principles (GAAP), FERC and Cost Accounting principles - Knowledge of project management - Knowledge of activity management, process improvement and reporting and query tools - Knowledge of accounting/financial systems - Knowledge of internal control concepts and applications - Knowledge of the applicability of accounting principles to complex and varied business situations - Skill in analyzing and solving complex problems - Skill in verbal and written communication - Skill in explaining accounting treatments in a variety of business situations - Skill in applying accounting concepts and principles into practical business solutions - Skill in meeting deadlines - Advanced skill level in spreadsheet applications - Intermediate skill level in office productivity applications (such as email and word processing) - Basic skill level in PeopleSoft or similar accounting software for inquiry and chartfield tree maintenance - Advanced skill level in PeopleSoft or similar accounting software for reporting and data extraction - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, management and outside auditors - Ability to manage multiple, complex projects - Ability to analyze situations, see the big picture, and derive alternatives - Ability to balance and manage competing high priority work demands - Ability to build relationships and foster teamwork - Ability to work in a team environment - Ability to maintain confidentiality
