Outreach coordinator IFE-STAR Ecosystem

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 24 faculty members, 400 undergraduates, and 150 graduate students. It has cross-cutting research programs in biomedical engineering; communications and signal processing; computer engineering; controls and robotics; electric power and energy systems; electromagnetics and remote sensing; and lasers, optics, and applications. In 2015, the National Science Foundation selected the ECE department to lead the nation to scalable and sustainable change in engineering education through its Revolutionizing Engineering Departments ( RED ) program. Impressively, CSU was the first ECE department chosen by the NSF for this highly competitive initiative of national importance. The department participates in the CSU Information Science and Technology Center (ISTeC), the CSU - CHILL National Radar Facility, and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere. It is home to the headquarters of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology. ECE boasts three Colorado State University Distinguished Professors and one University Distinguished Teaching Scholar, the highest recognition available for CSU faculty. More than 40% of ECE faculty hold IEEE Fellow distinction, and many faculty have courtesy appointments in the departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Systems Engineering and collaborate with faculty in these and other departments across CSU . Position Summary

The outreach coordinator will be a member of the RISE hub located at Colorado State University Foothills campus. The RISE Hub exists within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE ). As a member of the IFE - STAR Ecosystem the RISE hub will report to the University of Rochester.

The RISE hub at Colorado State University ( CSU ) seeks a highly motivated and independent individual who will serve as outreach coordinator for the IFE - STAR Ecosystem of which RISE is part of. The outreach coordinator will lead the advocacy and outreach programs of the IFE - STAR Ecosystem. This position requires considerable understanding of the significance associated with the research program in the three IFE - STAR hubs, and the flexibility to deal effectively with a diverse population, including faculty, researchers, international scholars, university administrators, staff personnel, and students.

Required Job Qualifications

+ MS or PhD in a STEM discipline

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills;

+ Excellent project management and administrative skills

+ Ability to communicate with a diverse international community of engineers and scientists; and

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

+ The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date. The ECE Department will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications

+ Experience with organizing educational/outreach activities

+ Experience in event organization and executing outreach events

+ Leadership for establishing partnerships or methods for engagement with the local community or other stakeholders.

+ Experience with maintaining a calendar for outreach events

+ Ability to maintain web pages and other communication materials with current content

+ Facilitate a National Summer Undergraduate IFE Research Program that connects participating IFE research institutions with undergraduate students interested in summer research.

+ Organizing a symposium at the end of the summer where students working on IFE research projects can meet and present their research.

+ Promote IFE to different communities, including K-12 outreach.

+ Interact with professional and trade organizations and industry associations to facilitate the organization of workshops and other activities that will support training initiatives tailored to the needs of the IFE industry.

+ Understand the significance associated with the research program in the three IFE - STAR hubs, and collaborate effectively with a diverse population, including faculty, researchers, international scholars, university administrators, staff personnel, and students.

+ The position requires considerable travel to the three hub sites.
