Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Director of Transportation in Newark, NJ. 

This candidate must have Direct to Consumer as well as Drop Ship Vendor experience.  The ideal candidate with have implemented or worked on a Home Delivery model to set up excellent in home customer service and delivery. 

The Director of Transportation is a senior leadership role.  In this position, you’ll help build our growing network delivery operations. You will work collaboratively with business, technology, store operations, and other leaders to ensure a world class home delivery experience for our customers. The Director will also manage a team of managers and associates to ensure that we meet and exceed the goals for our home delivery and final mile strategy.

Responsibilities:
Develop new and enhance existing operational/ network models to improve efficiency, customer experience, speed, and or drive potential savings.
Evaluate new and emerging technologies that can enhance the customer experience..
Manage RFP (Request for Proposal) processes providing expertise in multiple supply chain elements to achieve best total value in the selection of services and or carriers.
Review and implement processes and controls to ensure the home delivery service meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers.
Enhance freight claim analytics and implement initiatives to reduce damaged products.
Oversee reporting on KPI’s, order cycle time, and on time delivery percentages with carriers and vendors.
Coordinate and execute quarterly business reviews with carriers and internal teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Customer Service Centric approach.
Strong leadership skills, ability to build and manage teams.
Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and driving process improvements from concept to execution.
Ability to build positive partnerships with internal and external groups to optimize performance.
Strong working knowledge with Microsoft office products and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Experienced in Logistics, Transportation and or Customer Service.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through.
Outstanding communication skills as well as inter-personal skills and has the ability to work closely with associates to help them achieve their personal goals and assist in their continuous improvement.
