SQL DBA

Description:
UST Global® is looking for a talented and creative SQL DBA resources for one of the leading healthcare providers in the United States. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growing environment. The ideal candidate must have strong skills in DBA activities at the same time be able to put their creative hat in a problem-solving environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with domain experts and IT leadership team is key to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities:

As an SQL DBA you will be responsible for: -

•\tDetermines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations; applications; and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems;
•\tInstalls database systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.
•\tMaintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating; integrating; and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions.
•\tMaintains database integrity through security; back-up; and recovery specifications.
•\tPrepares users by conducting training.
•\tProvides database support by coding utilities; responding to user questions; and resolving problems.
•\tResponsible for T-SQL query tuning Responsible for database migrations and server upgrades.
•\tTroubleshoot application slowness and performance issues.
•\tAnd other routine Database Admin duties -: (Database Performance; Maintenance and Development to perform the following: ? Database management including backups; recovery and maintenance ? Analyzes and generation of all tables and index statistics ? Monitoring and resolving data lock issues ? Check all statistics related to memory; locks; I/O; database response time; wait events; top sessions and background processes ? On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) to capture; validate and store large amounts of transactions ? Create indexes to achieve critical dataset response time for time sensitive reports; etc)

Must have skills:

•\tExpertise in configuring and maintaining RMAN catalog; configuring RMAN for tape backup (Knowledge on TSM/TDP would be added advantage)
•\tExpertise in RMAN backup/recovery
•\tKnowledge of SQL Backtrack would be an added advantage
•\tPerformance tuning (Identify performance issues; Query tuning; analyzing AWR & ADDM reports; Active session history; Explain/Execution plan analysis; Tracing and Tkprof; RAC performance issues)
•\tMinimum of 6-7 years of Oracle database administrative experience with versions 8i; 9i; 10g; 11g
•\tBS in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
•\tExcellent written; oral and interpersonal communication skills required.
•\tOracle DBA certification required.
•\tRAC experience required
•\tFlexibility to work on weekend and night shifts
•\tExperience in handling the role of Escalation On-call DBA (Tier II or above)
•\tExperience in leading a team of at least 5+ DBAs

Good to have skills:
•\tExcellent written and oral communication skills.
•\tKnowledge on SQL server and related performance analysis tools.
•\tBasic understanding and knowledge on document-oriented databases such as MongoDB.
•\tBasic understanding on cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Azure
•\t

Location:
•\tThis position is based in Norfolk; VA. Relocation assistance will be provided by the company.
