Job Description

These duties center around the management of a commercial hotel’s restaurant services, activities, staff, and resources. The Restaurant Manager position will support the Kuik Cafe located inside the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge in Bethel, AK.

This is a rotational position in Bethel, AK. The rotation schedule will be 4-weeks on and 4-weeks off or potentially 3-weeks on and 3-weeks off depending on current alternates. Lodging and three meals per day provided. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times.
  2. Plan and direct the activities of a restaurant facility.
  3. Monitor and ensure compliance with all guidelines for operations.
  4. Continuously improve all assigned customer service activities.
  5. Assures compliance with the area’s established budget.
  6. Make sure all time keeping, sales/staffing, wage progress reports, etc. are properly and timely completed.
  7. Monitor food/beverage inventories and place restocking orders as needed.
  8. Conduct daily culinary planning meetings and pre-service meetings.
  9. Complete monthly inventory and turn it into General Manager.
  10. Review contracted product report with Regional Executive Chef monthly.
  11. Attend monthly Regional Culinary calls.
  12. Ensure food quality, preparation, and cost control according to recipe cards.
  13. Maintain critique of cash over/short and inventory.
  14. Promote teamwork and associate morale.
  15. Monitor associate files and uniform standards.
  16. Handle all guest complaints.
  17. Assist all hotel staff as needed to better serve the guests.
  18. Have working knowledge of the maintenance and operating procedures of all departmental equipment.
  19. Play a leading role in monthly departmental meetings and activities.
  20. Analyze, resolve and/or assist in solving work problems.
  21. Interview applicants and train new associates.
  22. Conduct ongoing training of all Restaurant associates to increase job knowledge and skill level.
  23. Check house counts daily to ensure staffing and activities meet hotel dining needs.
  24. Ensure all cash, deposits, balances, etc. are sufficient and accurate.
  25. Lock/unlock areas as needed for operations.
  26. Communicate daily with Restaurant staff for special needs, outages, projects, etc.
  27. Ensure all assigned activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  28. Must be able and willing to perform duties in all positions overseen when needed.
  29. This position is responsible for the supervision of staff.
  30. Embrace and drive the CARES program.
  31. Other duties pertinent to the department’s success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  1. High school graduation or GED equivalent.
  2. At least two (2) years of restaurant management food service experience with proven supervisory skills for at least five (5) or more people.
  3. Thorough knowledge of managing, planning, and organizing food service activities.
  4. The ability to operate basic office equipment and software programs including email, Excel, Word, etc.
  5. Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
  6. Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
