Product Engineer - Shifter

Position Description:
  • Work with supply base on new technologies that improve shifter cost, weight, and performance.
  • Work with lead program D&R engineer to understand and improve component performance, reliability and durability to meet key governmental safety requirements.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations for improved reliability and durability performance.
  • Work with global cross functional teams for issue resolution.
  • Develop test procedures and associated test fixturing to support shift systems validation.
  • Vehicle level DV testing of AT Shift Systems.
  • Author and publish test reports in support of component/vehicle validation.

Skills Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree Required. BSME or BSEE preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GPDS and deliverables for each milestone preferred.
  • Ability to perform nominal studies, tolerance stack analysis and functional GD&T preferred.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, ES Specs and Inverted Delta safety critical characteristics preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques for metals and thermo set plastics preferred.
  • Component test experience with bench and/or dyno preferred. * Build up/tear down experience preferred.
  • Technical writing (Reports and procedures) preferred.

Skills Preferred:
  • Global program experience preferred.
  • Prior experience preferred with systems such as WERS, AVBOM, eFDVS, Team Center, Integrator preferred but not required.
  • Ford Motor Company or Tier 1 experience preferred.

Experience Required:
  • Entry level to Experience Professional

Education Required:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree Required. BSEE or BSME preferred.

  • MSEE or MSME or MBA
