SUMMARY The RN in the Department of Surgical Services is responsible for providing nursing care which requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill related to perioperative nursing. The RN will use the nursing process in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to provide nursing care. This job interacts with the patients, families, physicians, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Provides all aspects of direct patient care in all phases of perioperative services: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative; Utilizes special equipment in the care of surgical patients; Prepares and recovers patients for surgical procedures; Maintains, creates, and works from a sterile field. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience preferred. 6. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred 7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
