Job Summary This is the first level in a three level job series. Candidates will only be considered for the position level to which they apply.In order to be considered for other levels, you must apply directly to the job posting for that level. This position is pending availability of a vacancy. This is the entry level in a progressive job series responsible for performing welding and mechancial work in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of nuclear power plant equipment. Incumbents perform, under the guidance of supervisor or experience staff, basic to routine inspections and repairs on turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, fans and similar equipment. With guidance, aligns and balances rotating equipment. May assist with the set up and operation of lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses and other machine tools in the performance of machine work to close tolerances. May learn welding techniques to assists with the maintenance, repair or construction of various nuclear power plant equipment and pressure vessels. With direction, may assist with the assembly of piping, valves and fittings by welding. Receives guidance or direction from supervisor or more experienced staff on unusual or more complex problems. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Possess 3 years or more of appropriate craft experience; nuclear industry experience preferred in a directly related field including specialized experience such as Welding, Fabrication, HVAC, Crane mechanics, Valves, etc. OR Possess a minimum of 3 years Naval Nuclear experience in the following discipline; Machinist Mate (MM) or ELT which includes successful completion of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion training program Candidates with the following experience are highly encouraged to apply: + Welding experience with piping and pressure vessels, the ability to perform GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and brazing on pressure and non-pressure components. + Power station welding experience, pipefitting experience, abilities in pipefitting, layout, print reading and fabrication of components Must possess minimum qualifications and experience as defined in ANSI N phone number removed> Section 4.5.3 - Must be qualified and able to perform the responsibilities and tasks of the position to accurately read, interpret, and comply with company/department procedures, provide attention to detail, and to minimize errors.- Capable of working with mechanical tools and working knowledge of plant systems and their functions pertinent to plant administrative requirements.- Position requires maintaining unescorted plant access qualification, maintaining enclosed volume and radiation worker qualifications, maintaining Station Emergency Response Organization (SERO) qualifications, and supporting non-core work schedules (night shift) to support the needs of the plant.- Individual must be able to meet the physical job requirements of this position and support the department's shop on-call responsibilities.- Must be able to learn how to repair, testing, installation and removal of power plant or related equipment.- Ability to learn to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of mechanic problems.- Ability to learn to perform general repairs or replace components as needed.
