Provide appropriate psychosocial support and therapy services to adult, child and adolescent patients. Interpret the patient’s perception of diagnosis and treatment as revealed through all means of communication both verbal and nonverbal. Develop individual treatment plans based on an assessment of the patient's development, temperament, coping style, medical plan and available social supports. Use developmentally appropriate methods in preparing patient and families for diagnostic and treatment procedures. Provide emotional support and work on coping skills during patients identified stress points. Utilize stress reduction and relaxation techniques to facilitate adaptive coping and provide opportunities for self expression to promote self healing. Plan and implement family and individual sessions based on patient and unit needs. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
1 To provide support, therapeutic council, emotional support and education to Adult and pediatric patients. Have experience in supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy and anger management techniques. Provide individual and crisis counseling relative to personal and social problems.
2 Provide individual and crisis counseling relative to personal and social problems.
3 Maintain up-to-date EHR files on patients.
4 Perform short term counseling and crisis intervention as necessary.
5 Coordinate with clinical, health education, community health and other staff members in the provision of services to patients. Provide referrals for services needed.
6 Use tests, measurements, and measurement scale for general and specific assessments as well as objective patient criteria in the provision of services and evaluation procedures.
7 Serve as a liaison between the patient and clinic Psychiatrists
8 Assume other responsibilities as directed.
Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in psychology, or counseling.
Licensure: LPC or PLPC
Experience: Minimum one year experience working in Behavioral Health
Strong background in behavior disorders, bereavement issues and health issues. Strong communication skills and ability to build a quick rapport with patients and families. Masters of Arts in Counseling or other Human Service related field.
