Job Description

The American College of Radiology (ACR) is at the forefront of radiology evolution, representing more than 37,000 diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists. Its core functional areas advocacy, economics, education, quality and safety, research, and membership value are improving, promoting, and protecting the practice of radiology.

Currently ACR seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Program Specialist to join the Government Relations department located in Washington, DC. This position assists Senior Director and Directors (State and Regulatory Affairs) in furtherance of state and regulatory affairs priorities of the association, and in using social media and other communication vehicles to enhance ACR's visibility and reputation. Employee will assist in tracking, analyzing, and responding to federal agency activities and reporting on hearings and meetings as assigned. Employee will develop/maintain topical expertise and issue-specific advocacy resources for use by state chapters; interact with state chapter leadership; coordinate state advocacy and state grassroots activities; assist with strategic responses to chapters on state legislative and regulatory developments. Employee will develop timely communication including articles, newsletters, social media, PowerPoint slides, etc. to be published in appropriate communication vehicles. Employee performs other activities as assigned including assisting with and/or staffing ACR committees/commissions.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates must have:

• 4-6 years in government relations, public relations or closely related field;
• BS degree preferred;
• Experience in state legislative and/or federal regulatory/legislative/research policy arenas;
• Experience with project/organizational management in the non-profit sector including communications, member management and support, and policy development (preferred);
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required;
• Thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
