Job Description

SENIOR BUYER LOCATED IN CHANNELVIEW, TX

NATURE AND SCOPE Same as Buyer, but this position requires familiarity with manufacturing functions, specific production and/or construction requirements. Interface with engineering, project management, manufacturing and upper and middle management is normal for this position. Complexity of this position ranges from commonly available to semi and special design and specification control materials. Directly responsible for source selection, development of vendors, issuing quote requests, developing annual contracts for MRO items, contract agreements, and issuing purchasing orders. This position’s demand level is determined and driven by the manufacturing requirements and volumes. Must interface with Accounting Department and Warehouse in problem solving. Typical annual dollar commitments up to $7,000,000.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Comply with all of Companies Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines.

2. Develop and maintain new sources of competitive suppliers that are capable of meeting Companies specifications with results of less than 10% rejection rate on parts.

3. Provide timely procurement of materials, services and processes at a competitive price necessary to support fabrication operations.

4. Assists in training new buyers.

KNOWLEDGE:

Must have up to five (5) years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, knowledge of process and materials, understanding of MRP and inventory systems. Experience will include cost negotiations and savings, annual planning and awareness of local and nationwide market conditions.
