Sr Data Analyst/Consultant

Consultant Overview:

Coordinate configure and support changes needed within the supported system. Analyze, build and launch products and other changes within the system. Define, plan and execute testing to ensure proper functionality and billing accuracy.  Manage multiple small to large complex cross departmental projects from initiation to implementation. Perform in depth data analysis and data mining as needed. Job focus may be on quality assurance testing or requirements gathering and analysis.


Consultant Responsibilities:

Request Analysis and Impact Analysis. This will apply to all areas of the job and tasks worked.

  • Analyze, evaluate and document business requests and work to translate the requests into system functional needs, work with developers to draft a system design, work with various departments to add or enhance system processing, produce required project documentation as defined by your management.
  • Manage multiple small to complex sized projects from initiation to implementation
System Configuration and changes.
  • Modify the system which may include updating configuration tables, using various tools to modify system functionality, writing simple to complex processes/scripts to update data as needed and other tasks as assigned.  Work with the development team to draft designs.
  • Analyze and modify database data to ensure proper configuration and processing by developing simple to complex scripts or processes to change system data and/or functional processing.
  • Build simple to complex tiered products. Work with the integration points to ensure the products are functional.
Production support and ticket management.
  • Review assigned tickets and work to determine the priority of the ticket compared to current work load. Reach out to the requestor no later than 24 hours after assignment or based on service level agreements set by management. 
Perform System Testing
  • Review business and function requirements to ensure proper test case to requirement traceability, work with Sr. level members to translate function requirements into test cases, work with developers and system analyst and integration points to ensure test cases are complete and accurate
  • Analyze, unit test, regression test and integration test various aspects of the system.
  • Create simple to complex scripts to automate testing.
  • Define standard test cases, define testing best practices and mentor junior level team members.
Other tasks as assigned.

System Consultant Qualifications include:
  • Education
    • College Degree or Equivalent work
  • Skills
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
    • Ability to handle multiple large cross departmental projects at one time
    • Good communication
    • Database knowledge
    • Ability to create and execute simple to complex queries or scripts
    • Ability to create and modify stored procedures, triggers or other scripts as necessary
    • Exceptional risk analysis and mitigation strategies
    • Ability to work independently
  • Experience
    • Previous IT experience or relevant testing/analysis work (7 years)
    • Previous experience managing multiple large complex projects and system changes (7 years)
    • Previous database experience including data analysis, data mining and SQL development (5 years)
    • Previous billing system or usage processing knowledge is a plus but not required.
