Associate or Assistant Communications Director (Softball and Women's Soccer)

CoSIDA Norman, OK (Onsite) Full-Time
Derived Salary: $37K - $90K/Year
The University of Oklahoma Athletics Communications Office is accepting applications for the position of associate director or assistant director. This is a full-time, 12-month renewable position with full University benefits. The successful applicant will be responsible for helping the department with coverage and publicity of the university's 21-sport varsity athletics program.

Responsibilities: Serve as the primary communications contact for an OU softball program that has won the last four national championships and women's soccer. Will also help serve in a supervisory role with a full-time intern, graduate assistant and student assistants. Create unique written content, features and releases, oversee/execute website and social media content, design media guides, compile statistics, arrange media interviews, conduct interviews, travel to select away events, etc. Will assist in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports, including football, and events as required.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field and minimum of two years of experience in collegiate/professional athletics communications.

Requirements: A strong graphic design background. Candidates must also possess effective writing, editing, computer, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and mentoring skills. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and statistical software. A demonstrated ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on-campus groups. Able to work in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours.

Departmental Preferences: Knowledge of and experience with softball or baseball. Daily experience working with coaching staffs and administrators. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts. Digital photography experience a plus.

Salary: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and full University benefits package.
