Location: Ft. Lee, Virginia

Terms: Full Time - 6 Month Contract to Hire

Required Experience: Senior Engineer with a CCNP and meeting DoD 8570 IT Level 3 (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, CISSP Associate, GCED, or GCIH).

Network Engineer Job Description: 

  • Candidate will be a member of the Network Engineering Team that performs the task listed below in a Department of Defense Organization. Perform all aspects of network switch, router, and wireless installation, configuration, sustainment, upgrade, replacement and removal following approved guidelines and direction. Provide standard configuration management for Customer’s global network (switch, router, wireless), utilizing agency change control and management processes.
  • Implement and maintain DISA secure technical implementation guidance (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance, utilizing agency change control and management processes. Administer Network Access Server Accounts utilizing current Customer-provided software to include user account creation, changes and deletions, and to resolve user problems.
  • Manage installation and startup of new networking technologies and technical agency initiatives, as directed. Coordinate and support the design and implementation activities of other Customer IT teams and Customer-authorized third parties, as they relate to the Data Network Services. Provide program control services and implement network infrastructure upgrades and system integrations, as approved. Provide comprehensive network problem analysis, problem resolution, support and optimizations.
  • Provide performance monitoring and analysis of Wide Area and Local Area Network (WAN/LAN) data communications.

Network Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Provide network and application support for network management tools and technologies, including (but not limited to): Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco ACS, IBM Tivoli, BIND DNS, Infoblox, and Net Scout. Provide network infrastructure support for agency Video Telepresence, Digital signage and media content services. Provide network design and engineering recommendations and support, based on business needs provided by Customer.
  • Perform DNS/DHCP/IPAM/LDAP support and administration as it pertains to the Data Network Equipment. Implement and manage all aspects of IP address assignment. Maintain the IP address assignment database and assignment of addresses for Customer Locations. Provide suggestions and recommendations to Customer for the design of Data Network Equipment cabinet layout and cabling. Provide network design / architecture and integration support within Customer’s global network and the Network Operations Center.
  • Provide advanced analysis of Wide Area and Local Area Network (WAN/LAN) data communications, including routing and switching. Research and develop IT communications technology improvements as directed. Evaluate, design and test network architecture improvements for Customer’s WAN/LAN as directed. Design and support the installation of computer systems to best meet the objectives of the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, briefing materials and databases pertinent to Customer’s integrated data networks. At least semi-annually, provide recommendations to Customer on technology and methodology changes that could positively impact Data Network Services performance.
  • Perform all aspects of network firewall, proxy and Virtual Private Network (VPN) installation, configuration, sustainment, upgrade, replacement and removal following approved guidelines and direction. Provide standard configuration management for Customer’s firewall, proxy and VPN infrastructure, utilizing agency change control and management processes. Implement and maintain DISA secure technical implementation guidance (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance, utilizing agency change control and management processes.
  • Develop, support and maintain Firewall design and DMZ environments. Provide suggestions and recommendations to Customer regarding architecture and the Standards.  Provide technical requirements based on Customer provided architecture, the Standards and business requirements. Modify and implement configurations that meet the Standards as they may change through the Change Control Procedures and periodically review such configurations. Manage software configurations and capacity to optimize performance.  
  • Perform all aspects of network DNS, DHCP, and IPAM installation, configuration, sustainment, upgrade, replacement and removal following approved guidelines and direction.
  • Provide standard configuration management for Customer’s DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure, utilizing agency change control and management processes. Implement and maintain DISA secure technical implementation guidance (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance, utilizing agency change control and management processes. Provide suggestions and recommendations to Customer regarding DNS, DHCP, and IPAM architecture and the Standards.
  • Provide technical requirements based on Customer provided architecture, the Standards and business requirements. Modify and implement configurations that meet the Standards as they may change through the Change Control Procedures and periodically review such configurations. Manage software configurations and capacity to optimize performance.
  • Perform capacity data analysis and participate in joint review with Customer. Provide network capacity reporting electronically, on a monthly and quarterly basis, to include: Resource shortages, Physical and logical link utilization, Spare LAN Ports, Latency, and Bottlenecks. Develop and test tactical solutions for network performance and capacity Problems. Develop and test strategic network performance and capacity solutions.
  • Implement solutions for network performance and capacity Problems, in accordance with customer’s established Network Change Management procedures. F5 Load Balancing: Candidate will Deploying Big IP in an enterprise network.
