Our medical device manufacturing client is currently seeking a Automation Engineer for their facility in Central MA. This role Ensure automated production equipment and processes run efficiently and safely by employing current technology and methods. Conceptualize, and evaluate vendor proposal, and manage procurement projects for automated. Develop and validate equipment and processes.

This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • Provide project concept development by authoring user requirement specification (URS), and quoting of automation in support of new business opportunities at manufacturing facilities
  • Lead equipment design reviews with a cross-functional team to ensure best attributes are included in equipment concepts
  • Manage automation equipment projects to ensure equipment design concept challenges are successful, GAMP documentation is complete, and project milestone dates are met
  • Provide FAT leadership at equipment vendor locations working directly with equipment vendor and company team to ensure equipment meets all URS and GAMP specifications, documenting performance gaps and managing vendors contingency plans to resolve before acceptance of equipment
  • Manage equipment installation activities at production facility
  • Develop equipment process parameters to ensure all products meet customer’s specifications, using DOE methodology
  • Create documentation and train production operations, maintenance technicians, and calibration departments to be able to operate and maintain equipment within a validated state 
  • Work with manufacturing facility engineering & management to identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve quality of existing automation, with a focus on flexible automation that can be used across multiple customer programs
  • Some travel may be required to customers, vendors other facilities to support business needs

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial technology, or equivalent mix or education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in automated machine design or assembly
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other mechanical CAD system
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Project
  • Understanding of GAMP methodology, ability to compose and execute FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ, and PQ validation phases
  • Working knowledge of mechanical devices, such as indexers, pick & place mechanisms, sensors, PLCs, stepper and servo motors
  • Strong commitment to proper safety precautions in design and practice
