**The Opportunity**
PCG's Education Consulting service line seeks **Curriculum Writers** for a highly complex and exciting curriculum development projectfor a major urban district.The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support educators and students in actualizing the Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Artsby creatingcustom curricular content that is centered around culturally relevant and sustaining texts, themes, and instructional practices.Curriculum writers will engage in a creative, iterative, and collaborative development process to produce lessons and practice activities that are rigorous, engaging, and meaningful to students. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below.
This is a full-time,temporary,remoterole,withpotential foroccasional in-person meetings. Some travel may be required.Theanticipatedstart date is January 2023.PCG is seeking writersfor two development projects, one with a projected end-date of June 2023and the other with aprojected end-date of August 2024.Writers may be staffed to one orbothdevelopment teams.
**About PCG's Education Consulting Service Line**
PCG's Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.
Project engagements have included the development of theEngageNYgrades 6-12 English Language Arts curriculum for the New York State Education Department and the delivery of implementation services across several states; the design and delivery of a system of a K-3 professional learning program for the Connecticut State Department of Education; and the creation of training and resources to support standards implementation for the Florida Department of Education. We recently collaborated with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK-12 English Language Arts and mathematics and are providing asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation. Currently, we are also developing a K-5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools (FL) to support their transition to the new Florida B.E.S.T. standards.We are also partnering with the Texas Education Agency todevelop and/or reviseseveralcurriculato respond to stakeholder feedback, includingK-12 ReadingLanguage Arts, K-6 Spanish Language Arts, K-5 Mathematics, K-5 Social Studies,K-2 Spanish Skills,K-5 Science, and K-5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts).
**Responsibilities**
**The Role**
Responsibilities and expectations of Curriculum Writers include the following.
+ Developgrades 6-12 ELA curricular resources. Writers are responsible for the following:
+ Identifyingtexts that are culturally relevant and sustaining.Texts should elevate contemporary authors/content creators and include culturally positive portrayals of central characters for eachclient-specifiedcommunity (e.g., Asian American and Pacific Islanders;members of the Latinx, West African, Black Caribbean, Central American, and South Americancommunities;and Americans with Disabilities).
+ Creatingdevelopmentally appropriatewhole-grouplessons,practice activities, and related instructional materialsthat support theactualization of the Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts
+ Creatingadditionalscaffoldsto support the diverse needs of students
+ Developingformative and culminating assessment tools
+ Ensure thatdeliverables comply withspecific design criteria andare appropriateforthe agreed upon instructional and technical specifications.
+ Engage in ahighly collaborativeand rapid development process,which includesregular engagement with team members, peer review,client feedback,and other formative feedback.
+ Availability duringthe regularwork week, with some night or weekend work as needed.
+ Commitment for the duration of theproject withpotentialopportunity for future work.

**Qualifications**
**Required/Desired Experience**
+ Bachelor'sdegree or higher

+ Deep content knowledge inEnglish Language Arts as evidenced by years of teaching and/or other relevant experience
+ Experience developing curricular resourcesand authentic assessmentsfor use by others
+ Familiarity with Google Drive
+ Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred)
+ Familiarity with the Hidden Voices initiative, as well as the Expeditionary Learning and HMH Into Reading curriculum products (Preferred)

**Compensation**
Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.?As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $55,156 - $78,561. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
