PRN Radiologic Technologist

Job Purpose: Under direct supervision, the technologist takes images of the body by operating stationary and portable x-ray equipment according to developmental factors and age specifics.

Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)

1. Complete patient education regarding the procedure

2. Promote privacy and comfort for the patient.

3. Performs radiologic procedures as ordered. Uses lead markers on all exams

4. Prepares and assists the Radiologist in the completion of radiologic examinations

5. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays, adjusts equipment and determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient, adjusts shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient body. Adjusts cone to direct concentration of rays on specific area and selects proper film.

6. Transports patients within the facility as well as to and from the waiting area as required.

7. Prepares and maintains radiologic records, files and technical worksheets

8. Complete appropriate documentation related to the study

9. Perform quality control functions related to radiological studies

10. Follow infection control and safety guidelines

11. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications: (Describe minimum qualifications, preferred or required)

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology

Experience: One year full time experience as a Radiological Technologist

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Uses professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid state radiology registration as required by state law. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. CPR certification

Working Conditions: (list any environmental aspects of the position that have an impact on the performance of the job)

Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May be required to help lift/transfer patient. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
