Job Description

Job Designation

Reporting to a Director/General Manager Level of MAS - Kentucky, this position is responsible for Plant Engineering activities for the site which includes all buildings, grounds, offices, and manufacturing areas.  In addition this position will be a major support role for the maintenance department.  Good understanding of the facilities and all operations will be required.

Job Core Responsibilities

  1. Facility Planning

Responsible for design functions as required to support building expansions, new equipment installations, forward planning, specifying/designing special machinery, utility systems and new construction within local, state and national codes and regulations as required. This position will place an emphasis on design, layout, installation, and maintenance of plant electrical systems. The scope of this emphasis will include medium voltage substations, power distribution, low voltage MCC’s, induction power supplies, emergency back-up power, and all plant electrical systems.

  1. Projects

Responsible for project engineering (planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost accounting/tracking, purchasing and implementation functions) as required providing timely and cost effective company facilities and equipment.  This includes coordination/liaison effort with outside design firms, construction contractors, machine builders and maintenance vendors.  

  1. Environmental, Health and Safety

Responsible for assuring Company facilities and processes are in compliance with all EPA, OSHA and other applicable governmental regulations concerning environmental, health and safety issues.

  1. Maintenance

Support and help manage continual improvement in maintenance operations which includes skill level development, training programs, problem solving and software development and implementation.

  1. General

The Engineer Plant Sr. will be interfacing with groups from various departments and functional organizations.  Good leadership and strong interpersonal skills are required.   The Engineer Plant Sr. is responsible for fostering a motivating and positive work environment. 

  1. The individual in this position will perform any other tasks properly assigned by the Director/Manager of MAS-Kentucky.

Job Specifications

Education : A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required.  In lieu of a degree, equivalent experience (i.e. significant experience in facility planning and engineering with extensive experience analyzing, planning, organizing and directing facilities implementation, and service/support functions) will be considered
Years Experience : A minimum of five (5) years experience in project team management with extensive experience in the execution of engineering projects analyzing, planning, organizing and directing facilities implementation, and service/support functions is required.  The individual must have strong computer skills, including utilization of various software including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, facilities support systems and equipment, safety and environmental practices and regulations is also required.  A strong background utilizing lean tools and experience with various problem solving methods is preferred.  
Skills :

  • Demonstrated expertise with complex Electrical Engineering solutions
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge     
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
