Job Description

The Electronics Control Engineer position is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of autonomous solutions with DCS Corp’s Army Ground Combat Systems engineering group located in Harrison Township, MI. As an Automotive Electronics Controls Engineer, You will work alongside our U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Robotics and Autonomous Systems Center customers and be rewarded with a technically challenging and diverse career in the areas of manned & unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, vehicle electronics, and ground vehicle simulation. Come join the Army team responsible for leading, researching, designing, developing, engineering, testing, and transitioning autonomous ground vehicle technology for the current and future force. In this position you will serve as an Electronics Control Engineer providing research, design, and development support to assist TARDEC with the development of Drive-by-Wire solutions (Steering, Throttle, Break, Shift, etc) on existing and future military vehicles.

Essential Job Functions:

Work with the autonomous solutions engineering team, providing subject matter expertise to define, develop, refine, implement, and test Army Ground Vehicle Drive by Wire solutions.

Provide Project Engineering functions on Ground Vehicle Autonomy programs with a focus on By-Wire solutions. This will include providing technical input, as well as reviewing, engineering and contractual Scopes of Work (SOWs) for contractor teams.

Participate in Army and Industry IPTs, to include development and presentation of briefings to stakeholders, as well as Industry Partners.

Develop technical documentation pertaining to By-Wire solutions (ICDs, Mechanical drawings, requirements, and performance specifications).

Travel as required.
Requirements Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, ideally with a concentration in robotic and/or mechatronics based solutions.

Must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Approximately 5 years DoD or Industry Experience, Ideally working with Automotive Electronic Control Systems or other Robotics/Autonomous Vehicle related fields.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Familiarity with coding for embedded systems, including Matlab/Simulink, C++, dSPACE

Familiarity with AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture)

Familiarity with automotive communications (e.g. CAN, FlexRay)


Familiarity with mechatronics and mechatronic design (combination of electronics and mechanics for system design, including items such as actuators, vehicle subsystems)

Hands on experience with automotive systems and a familiarity with automotive subsystems such as steering, transmissions, brake systems, etc

Familiarity with robotic actuators and sensors

Familiarity with embedded systems for automotive electronics, especially electronic control units (ECUs) and FPGAs

Familiarity with Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262)

Familiarity with coding for embedded systems, including Matlab/Simulink, C++, dSPACE
