Operating Maintenance Engineer

Port of Seattle Seattle, WA (Onsite) Full-Time
CB Est Salary: $58K - $120K/Year
**Some of what you'll be doing:**

**Applications will be reviewed regularly, and interviews may be conducted prior to the close date.**

As a Operating Maintenance Engineer, you will perform operating and maintenance duties in support of the mechanical utility systems throughout the Airport facilities and other Port of Seattle properties.?

+ You will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair boilers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, refrigeration systems, diesel generators, hydraulic systems, HVAC, Direct Digital Controls (DDC), domestic water, PC Air, and other tasks related to the mechanical systems throughout Port of Seattle facilities.

+ You will perform or assist with air handler and variable air volume box preventive maintenance including controlling fans and dampers via DDC.

+ You will provide support to the Fire Department in testing and repairs of smoke control and fire sprinkler systems.

+ You will be responsible for preventative and corrective work to ensure proper equipment operation and reliability.

**Who you are:**

+ **Experienced** - You have You have five (5) years journeyman experience in a maintenance environment

+ **Educated** - You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and possess or obtain within one (1) year of hire, the following required licenses: City of Seattle Grade II or above Steam Engineer License, City of Seattle Refrigeration Operators or Journeyman Mechanic Grade A or C License, and Section 608 EPA CFC Universal License. **Candidates with all applicable licenses will have an additional $2.00 an hour premium.**

+ **Desired** - We hope you have a Cross Connection Specialist (CCS) certification, Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certification, Operator In Training (OIT) certification, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) monitoring experience, NICET, WABO and/or Plumbing skills (and knowledge of code), as well as, metal fabrication.

+ **Knowledgeable** - You have ability to troubleshoot, repair, and operate the above types of systems.

+ **Agile/Flexible** - You know that responsibilities and priorities change that require you to adapt quickly.

+ **Strong Communicator** - You are capable of effectively delivering information both formally and informally at all levels of the organization both verbal and written formats.

+ **Relationship Builder** - You are someone who can work with diverse staff at various levels of the organization to resolve problems while providing excellent guidance and customer service.

**What else you need to know:**

+ **Driver's License** - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.

+ **Work Schedule** -You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

+ **Work Environment** - You will generally work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.

+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

+ **Overtime Eligible** - You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.

+ **Safety Requirements** - You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

+ **Security Requirements** - As the successful candidate, you will must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire. In this role, you will be required to access Port of Seattle Police Department equipment, office locations, systems and/or vehicles. In compliance with Federal and State laws as the successful candidate, you will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.
