OptumRx Clinical Engagement and Product organization is seeking an Associate Director of Product Innovation and strategy to drive understanding of our market and competition and develop innovative clinical products pipeline for our clients. This person will work both internally with our talented Product, Clinical analytics teams as well as externally with our clients to identify, define and advances new products and programs for OptumRx Clinical organization, to achieve strategic and financial goals. The role will also engage with OptumRx Product strategy and product development organization to gain strategic alignment, and also collaborate with business development to identify potential partnerships for innovation. 

We are seeking a Schaumburg office based individual who is a results driven champion with strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration and a strong product development lifecycle experience.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Defines and owns a multi-years Clinical innovation roadmap with the goal of driving differentiation and solving for clients need

  • Works with cross-functional leadership to understand strategic priorities and quickly assessing internal and external dynamics to provide consultative services

  • Works hand-in-hand with Analytics team members to understand population data to drive new solutions and outcome value story

  • Instrumental in identifying and evaluating strategic innovation opportunities that can be applied to existing clinical and operational challenges

  • Develops the business case to support innovation ideas from concept to implementation and articulating future state vision and the value proposition

  • Presents proposals to the leadership team for approval and resource allocation

  • Monitors progress in the achievement of planned innovation projects and thoughtfully prioritizing time and resources to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Defines, articulates business requirements and target KPIs for the problems we’re trying to solve

  • Drives ongoing backlog prioritization of innovation ideas for target segment, with a focus on data-driven analysis and prioritization of complex tradeoffs

  • Partners with Clinical Product management, IT, Business execution, product Development, Product Marketing and Segment leads on key product initiatives and priorities

  • Partner with Product Development leader, Engagement leads to support portfolio and product strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Advance degree preferred, Pharm D, Business, or Product Design preferred

  • 3+ years of product management experience

  • Healthcare experience

  • Understanding of PBM, health plan, IT environment

  • 2+ years collaborating with various stakeholders in a business environment, working across cross-functional groups

  • Experience bringing products to market

  • Understanding of product management best practices

  • Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment using analytic and quantitative capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Passion for research and creating innovative products

  • Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a face paced environment, manage several projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and communicate potential conflicts to manager

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross-functional team

  • Experience with various business and product models, both within and external to healthcare industry

  • Experience in analyzing competitive position / customer needs and market trends
