Job Summary:

The Enterprise Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer I is a strategic position providing the highest level of technical skill and expertise in on-premise and Azure Active Directory, on-premise Exchange and Exchange Online messaging services, Skype for Business Server and Teams mobile messaging and collaboration services, ZixCorp email encryption services, Proofpoint Email Protection and Enterprise Archive, Infoblox DDI, Microsoft File Services (including technologies such as distributed file system (DFS-N, DFS-R) and File Classification Infrastructure (FCI)), and network services such as DNS/DHCP and enterprise printing (known throughout as the 'listed technologies'). The Enterprise Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer I is responsible for full life cycle management of the technologies listed above and the environment including requirements gathering, design, implementation and support. This position has extensive technical knowledge and experience in email, messaging (including mobile messaging), scripting, directory services, file services, network services and collaboration services.

Day to day activities include future strategic planning, operational maintenance, monitoring, availability and capacity planning for email, messaging (including mobile messaging), directory services, file services, network services and collaboration services. . The position also works as part of a cross-functional team that deals with the full spectrum of technology and will fulfill the role of third level support for all above technologies, providing training and direction to other technical staff that perform the bulk of the first and second level support tasks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Planning -- Plans and coordinates the future state of the listed technologies and environment for CHRISTUS information management. Designs solutions that meet the information system vision and strategy of the organization; plans, prioritizes, and manages projects, service requests, and routine assignments.

System Engineering - Analyzes listed technology configurations for critical corporate resources; evaluates changes and additions for proposed system acquisitions and provides critical input to the decision-making process relative to integration, operations, cost, resource requirements, and maintenance; develops plans and recommendations to improve the performance and efficiency of the storage network; addresses all aspects including hardware, software, outside services, etc.; prevents unplanned disruptions, especially of critical systems.

System Integration -- Integrates technologies listed above and Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, and Exchange, and Exchange Online components, subsystems, and facilities including Skype for Business Server, Teams, ZixCorp email encryption services, Proofpoint Email Protection and Enterprise Archive, and Microsoft SharePoint Services into the existing technical environment; assesses impact on other systems; installs, configures, and verifies the operation of AD and Exchange components; maintains or improves integration and operation of systems relative to the overall environment; leads or participates as team member in cross-system projects.

System Management -- Designs, implements, and oversees a proactive process to collect and report data and statistics on the listed technologies; ensures the systems operate efficiently and meet the needs of the organization; ensures they are kept at most current stable version/release; performs research and testing to verify impact of installing all updates; monitors performance of all assigned systems, responds to reports of slow or erratic performance; control of all aspects of the AD and Exchange network; provides training to IM associates and clients as needed

Training & Certification - Maintains in-depth knowledge and current certification from Microsoft in all technologies listed above.

Problem Management -- Support the problem and availability management process by providing expert level, Tier 3 support for Incidents, working with problem management to accurately diagnose root cause, and implement changes to prevent the reoccurrence of future incidents. Update the problem management knowledge base for Incident Management process.

Availability Management -- Support the Availability Management process in architecting and implementing design for availability. Participate in System Outage Analysis to determine prevention of future problems and minimizing downtime.

Service Continuity -- Participate in IT Service Continuity Practice by insuring technical design, implementation and testing to support continuity plans. Implement risk mitigation measures as defined by risk analysis.

Applications and Systems Development - Interface with and support staff in all areas and at all levels in the definition of requirements, selection, design, development, implementation, and support of information systems. Provide technical oversight of system architectural development and technical guidance on problem definition and resolution

Communication - Provide effective oral and written communications to staff to facilitate understanding, ownership and accomplishment of project goals and objectives. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, possess good negotiating skills and promote teamwork.

Standards - Develop and implement standards and procedures for technical problem solving tools and communication techniques. Maintain follow-up process for system deficiencies and end user trouble reports. Analyze and recommend procedural standards and changes to enhance user tasks and correct problem areas, as they become known.

Teamwork - Maintain and demonstrate good teamwork on assigned projects through actions and job performance.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field or equivalent experience (6 years) required.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Server to include: Active Directory integration, working with scalable database architecture, coexistence, security, Outlook Web Access, support for mobile devices, integration with Outlook, system availability, and clustering support.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of collaboration tools such as Skype for Business Server and Teams as well as knowledge of large Microsoft file services infrastructure technologies including Distributed File Systems (DFS-N & DFS-R), and File Classification Infrastructure (FCI).
  • Extensive experience working with Active Directory Forests, AD Domains and Trusts, AD Certificate Services, Group Policy Management, Internet Information Services (IIS), DNS, DHCP, SMTP, MAPI, and IMAP.
  • Knowledge of local and wide area networking on multiple platforms: Windows, Linux and VMware; network protocols and routing; network, server, and host operating systems; IP networking, internet and intranet technologies; email, groupware, office automation and collaboration technologies; voice and/or data communications; voice and/or data networking; Windows desktop OS; server hardware, software, and administration.
  • A total of six (6) years of experience in large corporate systems environment with a wide variety of Information Management systems, networks and technologies required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Active Directory and Exchange system management.
  • Experience with automation and scripting in PowerShell is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a health care systems environment is a plus.
  • One or more of the following certifications required:
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Associate or equivalent
  • Linux certification
