Digital Media Specialist

Gift of Life Philadelphia, PA Full Time

Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit agency serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware, is responsible for recovering organs and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.

 This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced communications professional to develop, implement, and analyze social media and digital marketing strategies to advance Gift of Life Donor Program’s mission while underscoring its positioning as a world leader in organ and tissue donation and transplantation.  The Digital Media Specialist also provides social media support to Gift of Life entities: Gift of Life Family House, Gift of Life Institute and Transplant Pregnancy Registry International. 

 As part of the 200+ Gift of Life staff, you will represent the nation’s leading organ donor program, which coordinates more life-saving organ donations than any program in the country. A non-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization, we partner with leading hospitals throughout our region to save lives and offer hope to thousands of families each year.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to: 

  • Manage the use of social media platforms to represent Gift of Life Donor Program and further the organization’s mission (assist with Institute and Family House as needed).
  • Collaborate with Communications team to represent ongoing campaigns and strategic initiatives through use of digital marketing.
  • Manage Gift of Life’s website to ensure content is current, accurate and provides an excellent user experience. 
  • Maintain SEO best practices to optimize Gift of Life website traffic and engagement.
  • Create monthly editorial calendar for Gift of Life’s website and social media platforms.
  • Develop, build, and implement new features and sections on Gift of Life website as needed.
  • Build, maintain, and grow Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram community relationships.
  • Collaborate with Gift of Life staff on use of digital resources (website, social media, video, photography) to achieve campaign goals for Multicultural, Education, Volunteer Outreach, Living Donation, Gift of Life Family

House and Special Events, (i.e. Donate Life Month, National Donor Sabbath, College Challenges).

  • Photograph/video events for Gift of Life Donor Program and Family House when necessary.
  • Assist in developing and managing spokesperson database.
  • Create and monitor various paid digital marketing campaigns throughout the year including Google and Facebook Advertising campaigns.
  • Assist Communications Coordinator in publishing press releases and articles to Gift of Life’s website and social media platforms.
  • Use daily log of donation news stories to develop content for social media platforms and blog posts.
  • monitor social media trends, identify emerging tools and opportunities, participate in educational conferences and webinars to stay on top of this field, build relationships with online influencers (specifically in the non-profit, healthcare and OPO communities).
  • Coordinate with vendors on graphic design elements (i.e. backgrounds, icons, widgets, banners, etc.) to enhance the overall web presence.
  • Work with Communications team to plan, implement and report on strategic events and campaigns promoted through digital marketing outreach.
  • Serve as part of Communications team to craft messaging, develop and implement integrated campaigns.
  • Work with Communications team to support issues  management to represent Gift of Life Donor Program accurately and professionally to all key stakeholders.
  • Use video collateral for appropriate events and initiatives through the year (i.e. compilations, interviews, special events). Create and edit videos with new and existing footage throughout the year according to editorial calendar.
  • Manage front lobby monitor in Gift of Life’s office.
  • Develop/enhance standard operating procedures.
  • Attend and support various events and activities to facilitate social media content. Perform miscellaneous related duties and perform other duties as assigned. 

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field plus at least five years’ experience.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, writing, presentation, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work with community leaders and diverse group of volunteers. 
  • Requires demonstrated proficiency in: Microsoft Office, Social Media Monitoring Tools (i.e. Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.), Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign, Final Cut Pro (or iMovie), Content Management Software, Microsoft SharePoint, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, HTML is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work weekends and evenings is necessary.
  • Experience working with healthcare or non-profit organizations is preferred.
