Job Description

Your role in helping us shape the future:

You will play a vital role on a team of payroll professionals by participating in the complete start to finish processing of domestic (US) and international payroll.  You’ll ensure daily payroll operations are complete and accurate and in compliance with federal/state/local labor and tax laws, while also processing all payments in a timely manner and in accordance with state, federal and local tax/labor laws. You’ll work closely with disbursement management to develop performance measures and implement improvements to the payroll function and lend your strong technical expertise for the Oracle Time and Labor (OTL) and ADP payroll systems, creating and maintaining procedures for these systems, enhancing payroll processes and collaborating with other departments to support payroll-related activities. If you have at least two years of experience in a multi-state, corporate payroll department, then this might be the ideal role for you!

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Use your skills processing domestic (US) and international payrolls, validating data for accuracy and ensuring that all payments are made in a timely manner and are compliant with state, federal and local tax/labor laws.
  • Create new employee records in the payroll system and update existing records to maintain accuracy of all fields, including tax and benefits withholdings, direct deposit information and work/live state.
  • Partner with Human Resources and other departments within the company to ensure the accuracy of special or one-off payments to employees.
  • Recommend changes in procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll processing and payroll accounting functions.
  • Analyze department performance measures and coordinate with management to implement action plans related to quality controls and quality improvements.
  • Execute on approved payroll policies and procedures, suggesting changes as appropriate to comply with applicable regulations, department processes and company policies.
  • Maintain quality controls for tax filings and related internal and external audits.
  • Process timecard adjustments, payroll data files, supplemental payments, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Drive the ADP Connect biweekly process for HR updates, review data import for accuracy and reconcile the biweekly process to the Oracle Employee Detail report.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual report verifications, including tax filings.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to external and internal customers.
  • Audit employee reimbursement, train new Oracle iExpense users.
  • Be a hero to your colleagues by processing and completing Accounts Payable cycle (meaning their employee expense reports, payroll invoices) for multiple entities.

Can you drive these processes?

  • Stay cutting edge on your skills with the payroll-related aspects of the Oracle and ADP systems.
  • Ensure that up-to-date operating procedures are in place for all vital payroll functions.
  • Update quality control logs and maintain records for key payroll-related performance metrics.
  • Ensure payroll-related data, reports and employee forms are scanned on a timely basis and that employee reimbursements are audited and paid on time.
  • Socialize with colleagues and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

You should definitely have:

  • FPC or CPP preferred but not required.
  • You will have a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education and direct work experience) with at least two years of experience in a multi-state payroll department.
  • You’ll leverage your knowledge of the ADP Payroll system, and a good understanding of federal and state guidelines related to payroll and taxes for both an employer and employees.
  • Show us your functional efficiencies; lead the resolution of issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate your business brain by through knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) of the United States required.
  • You’ve got to be able to make gross-to-net payroll calculations without the aid of a computerized payroll system.
