Assistant Professor of Clinical - Pediatrics, Infectious Disease

Job Description:
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division, in conjunction with the Miami Transplant Institute and the Antibiotic Stewardship Program, is recruiting for an assistant level faculty position to enhance our program. The faculty must have formal training and/or strong clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant infectious complications. The faculty will oversee the pediatric antibiotic stewardship program, collaborating closely with the pediatric pharmacy and the adult program. Candidates should possess clinical and scholarly expertise along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently and independently as part of collaborative groups. Research opportunities will be available.
Responsibilities include:
- Care of pediatric patients referred to the Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Providing mentorship for quality assurance and research projects.
- Sharing on-call duties with other division faculty members.
- Conducting basic, translational, and clinical research to develop publications and grant submissions.
- Working with the Miami Transplant Institute.
- Providing pre-and post-transplant evaluations.
- Inpatient consultation and outpatient care for pediatric transplant patients.
- Attending meetings involving pediatric transplant patients.
- Providing physician backup for all pediatric antibiotic stewardship program activities.
- Conducting structured rounds for the clinical pharmacist assigned to this program.
- Providing logistic analysis and developing interventions to improve antibiotic selection and reduce costs.
- Serving as the representative for the Pediatric Infection Control Program.
- Reviewing, updating, and developing policies to reduce nosocomial infections.
- Reviewing and updating electronic order sets as needed.
- Participating in the Antimicrobial and Anti-infective Committee and other committees related to antibiotic stewardship and infection control.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- MD/DO degree.
- Diplomate of the Board of Pediatrics.
- Board eligible or Board certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease.
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical/basic/translational research and evidence of research success.
- Desired: Pediatric Transplant Infectious Disease Fellowship Training or equivalent.
- Desired: Experience in Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship programs.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching students and housestaff.
- Eligibility for or maintenance of a valid Medical License in the State of Florida and a valid DEA license.
- Ability to work efficiently and collegially within a diverse environment as part of collaborative groups.
- Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
