The Lead Security Software Engineer (LSSE) is responsible for systems analysis and programming related to development and support of products, services, and tools of the Research and Education Networks - Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC). The LSSE owns full projects or complex areas of multi-faceted projects while performing analysis, programming, troubleshooting, bug-fixing, tuning, data conversions, testing, documentation, and software support for applications and services. The LSSE collaborates with REN-ISAC staff, members, and teams within the IU central information technology organization, and with external third parties. Success is demonstrated through initiative, creativity, innovation, and collaboration in the development of stable, maintainable, and efficient software ensuring that REN-ISAC services are executed at the highest standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Systems, or a related discipline and three years of professional experience in a combination of cybersecurity operations and development of software solutions. Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Experience leading the design, development, and operation of software solutions including requirements, design, information architecture, implementation, and deployment. Experience with ElasticSearch. Knowledge of cybersecurity operations such as logging, monitoring, intrusion detection, analysis, mitigation, and incident response. Familiarity with network fundamentals including IP protocols, engineering (routing, netflow, firewalls, ACLs), and network applications (DNS, SMTP, HTTPS, SSL/SSH, NTP, &c). Experience using software provisioning, configuration management, and application-deployment tools. Work Location
Remote work will be considered based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Remote workers are required to attend biannual week-long all staff gatherings. Job Classification
