SRC is seeking a Global Command and Control System -- Joint Enterprise (GCCS-JE) Systems Engineer. The principal responsibility of the Systems Engineer is to plan and conduct research or development of projects for future releases of the GCCS-JE Program. The System Engineer will represent the GCCS-TCO Project Office at GCCS-related Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and Program Engineering Review Groups (PERGs) and will coordinate with GCCS-JE and GCCS-TCO developers, integrators and testers. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serving as the interface to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) GCCS-JE Program and the SSC LANT GCCS-TCO Project. The Systems Engineer selected will evaluate customer technical requirements and design constraints in support of IT system design and architecture for new or modified environments, including both hardware (server, network and storage) and software.
• Communicating changes occurring in the GCCS-JE Program that affect and potentially impact the GCCS-TCO Project. The person hired will also be responsible for communicating the GCCS-TCO requirements to the GCCS-JE Program.
• Analyzing GCCS-JE and GCCS-TCO requirements for future integration and testing of GCCS-related software.
• Creating documentation including installation procedures, software versions descriptions, technical bulletins, and system administration manuals.
• Providing written technical and programmatic recommendations concerning the GCCS-TCO/GCCS-JE portfolio. [*MON *CB] FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently in a demanding and high tempo environment
• Experience in providing technical input to the project to ensure product selection, system design and delivery schedules are properly developed and implemented
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate detailed technical information to peers and non-technical management staff as needed
• Must be able to travel occasionally (30% year avg.) in support USMC GCCS-TCO and DISA GCCS-JE Meetings DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Three to five (3-5) years' experience within the command and control (C2) and/or intelligence field
• Familiarity with the installation and configuration of Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Family of Systems (FoS) and understanding of GCCS-TCO and GCCS-J and related applications
• Understanding of the systems that interface with and utilize GCCS-TCO capabilities
• Understanding of Linux (RedHat), and Windows Client/Server software
• High level experience working with and securing various UNIX and Linux operating systems in accordance with the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), other Department of Defense regulations, and industry standard best practices
• Significant experience in implementation and configuration of enterprise software applications
• Experience with shell scripting using the bourne shell, bourne-again shell (bash), korn shell, python, or Perl scripting languages
• Experience applying vendor specific patches to UNIX and Linux based operating systems, as well as any other supported software running on computer systems
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware ESX, VMware Workstation, Solaris zones and containers)
• Experience with analyzing, comparing, and modeling various data types. Experience with R, XML schemas, JSON, and data visualization tools
• Experience with comprehending and redlining technical drawing packages as required for the creation of new IT systems or modifications to existing systems, including assembly, schematic and wire list information EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree in: Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or an information technology discipline from an accredited university. An equivalent in education and operational experience may substitute for a degree
