Armed Security Guard (Customer Service / Public Safety)

Job Responsibilities

As an Armed Security Guard, you will respond to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level up-to and including, armed response as dictated by the situation and protocol. This will involve, observing and reporting activities and incidents at your assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

Additional responsibilities for this customer service role include:

  • Providing a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each client employee and visitor
  • Providing an atmosphere in which all client employees and visitors know that the client responds to and cares about their needs
  • Communicating in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations
  • Patrolling assigned site on foot or in vehicle, inspecting buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear
  • Protecting evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations
  • Preparing logs or reports as required for site

Job Requirements

We are seeking a safety-oriented Armed Security Guard who combines critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to changes in the external environment and organization. You should also posses exceptional organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain professional composure when facing challenging circumstances at the work site. Furthermore, you should display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively at various social levels.

Specific qualifications for this public safety role include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Previous experience in physical security, military service, law enforcement or a related field
  • Reliable means of transportation and communication
  • Capability to comply with confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to work legally in the United States
  • Working knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Ability to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed security work
  • Basic computer skills
  • Schedule flexibility
  • Physically capable to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time as well as lifting up-to 40 pounds on an infrequent basis
  • Ability to withstand inclement weather conditions
  • Willingness to submit to and pass pre-employment screening process, to include drug screen and background investigation

Job Requirements

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., pager or phone).

Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private).

Must have the legal right to work in the United States.

Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.

Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

Must be willing to participate in the Company's pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.

Education/Experience: Associate's degree and 3 or more years of experience in a field related to the security industry and/or business management, and responsible experience in the security industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company. Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

Knowledge of security operations.

Knowledge of business operations management and human resources administration.

Use of personal computer and spreadsheet software.

Ability to synthesize business/financial data and develop solutions.

Planning, organizing and leadership skills.

Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:

Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, media and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled
substance testing, and behavioral selection survey.

Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.

Regular use of vehicle required in the performance of duties.

Regular talking and hearing.

Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25
pounds.

Occasional walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling in the performance of site surveys.

Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Frequent travel to client sites for oral presentations, group meetings, and site surveys.

Directing, motivating, training, coaching, and disciplining staff in a positive manner.

Reading and analyzing reports and financial data, including related computer usage.

Responding on an on-call basis to emergencies and incidents at all hours.
