Do you have experience in a hospital, medical office or other healthcare setting or maybe you are an EMT or Physical/Occupational Therapist? This could be your ideal job if you are excited about healthcare and have several years of experience in a healthcare environment and other general EH&S, and are interested in the dynamic world of consulting. In this role you will be working either on site at one of our client locations as an extension of their EHS organization and/or working on a variety of consulting projects from BSI’s office located in Laguna Hills, CA. Projects are variable and challenging.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Develops strategic plans to implement and design written EHS programs and procedures specific to the Healthcare industry to include:
  • Injury and Illness Prevention
  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Ergonomics
  • Chemical Hygiene
  • Bio-Safety
  • Hazardous Materials (chemical and biological)
  • Radiation Safety
  • Controlled Substance
  • Safe Patient Handling
  • Environment of Care
  • Work effectively to integrate health and safety into the fabric and culture of any outsource position. Leverage safety and health program to build morale and increase productivity of the employees and the operation. Builds effective working relationships with department managers.
  • Performs basic project management and internal customer management.
  • Experience with Job Hazard Analysis and Root Cause Analysis a plus
  • Assist clients with Regulatory Inspections to include (Joint Commission, OSHA, CUPA, Medical Waste, Radiation, Controlled Substance, Fire Department, Storm Water, EPA, and BAAQMD)
  • Develops and delivers First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Response training, drills, and programs.
  • May supervise and/or mentor junior staff.
  • Present and submit articles for publication locally and nationally.
  • Support other EHS&S projects as requested

    Experience & Education Requirements:
    Education:
  • This position requires a BS in a related EHS field, prefer an MS
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP/CSP Eligible.
  • Medical degree - nursing, emergency medical technician (EMT), physical therapist/occupational therapist is a plus
  • Certified to train First Aid / CPR / AED courses is a plus
  • Work Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience implementing hospital health and safety programs
  • Direct experience working in a hospital setting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong business writing and presentation ability
