Responsibilities and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the Radiology Director and under the direction of the Radiologist, is responsible for patient care and technical activities within the Diagnostic division of Radiology.

While exercising independent judgment and with limited supervision, coordinates all patient care and technical activities within the Diagnostic division of Radiology.

1.1 Provides adequate staffing by effectively utilizing staff resources to achieve maximum productivity and quality patient care. Meets or exceeds approve labor management standards.
1.2 Ensures that all exams are performed on a timely basis while maintaining all quality standards.
1.3 Coordinates the effective utilization of available equipment resources by appropriate scheduling and planning.
1.4 Ensures that all equipment operates according to safety standards and that all technologists are fully competent in the proper operations of all equipment.
1.5 Regularly checks the quality of exams performed by staff technologist to ensure that all appropriate standards are being met.
1.6 Regularly ensures that patients, physicians and all other identified customers, are receiving complete satisfaction.
1.7 Evaluates staff and provides leadership.

Participates in general management and supervisory functions as necessary or as directed.

2.1 Works with the Director in the establishment of capital and operations budgets.
2.2 Regularly monitors divisional performance and makes recommendations for improvements and/or corrections.
2.3 Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
2.4 Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities by developing and monitoring departmental studies and by actively working on hospital-wide team.
2.5 Actively enhances professional growth by attending hospital sponsored management functions as well as professional meetings.
2.6 Regularly reviews and updates assigned job descriptions.

Maintains accurate departmental records and data integrity according to standards.

3.1 Ensures that all requisitions are accurate and contain appropriate clinical data and that all appropriate Meditech entries are made upon completion.
3.2 Demonstrates all records and proper documentation appropriate for regulatory compliance.
3.3 Maintains divisional radiation monitoring badges according to policy.
3.4 Ensures that all billing is complete and all reports are distributed by reconciling with 'Taken' lists on a regular basis.

Submits appropriate reports to the Director.

Performs other related responsibilities are required.


Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an JRCERT approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Certifications: Certified by ARRT. BLS required.

Preferred Experience: 5 years experience required with 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

Preferred Other: Demonstrated or documented competency in respective modality. Competent supervisory skills.
