Job Description

Summary of the Position:

Reports directly to V/P R&D for investigation of ingredients and product sourcing. Provide scientific assessment of new or existing active ingredients. Investigate formulations and assist formulators with ingredient sources and dosing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific assessment of new or existing active ingredients.

  • Examine literature to establish appropriate animal dosages.

  • Assist in the development of new products for the Veterinary Division, including rationale, project timeline, and budget.

  • Assist and support V/P R&D in development of product improvements, and related scientific, marketing and promotional materials.

  • Provide recommendations and rationale for product improvements and new product ideas.

  • Provide input and recommendations for business development proposals.

  • Prepare scientific abstracts and manuscripts for publication, including assisting in selection of relevant scientific journals.

  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives

  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

Basic knowledge of scientific principles and practices is required. Must possess excellent writing, interpersonal, communication, and organization skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams. Must be competent in computer usage, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and/or databases. Knowledge of MS Project is also required.

Education and Experience:

Masters or Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Biology or related field or a Veterinary Medicine degree. Industry experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide professional assessment of team members to V/P of R&D. No direct reports presently.
