Our client a well respected real estate company that has been in business for almost 100 years is looking for an Accounting Manager with commercial and residential real estate accounting experience. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the operation of the Property Management and Corporate Accounting Departments. Oversees the application of accounting principles, installs and maintains the general accounting system, including preparation of reports and statistics reflecting assets, liabilities, financial transactions, earnings, profits, cash balance and other financial results. Maintains accounts and records of disbursements, expenses and tax payments. Coordinates the year review and preparation of annual financial statements by outside auditors. Maintains all property records including fixed assets. Supervises and directs the work of professional and clerical staff. Assists the CFO in providing financial information for mortgage refinancing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensures that credit risk is balanced with business objectives, targets are met and that only valid claims with proper management authorization are paid • Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting and balance sheet management • Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected • Coordinates and oversees activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation of duties • Assists with due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions and dispositions • Reviews and approves monthly cash forecasts for all managed properties • Prepares monthly and annual cash projections for Corporate operations • Assists Property Management in the preparation of all annual budgets • Provides actual and projected income and expense detail information for the preparation of the annual Corporate budget • Supervises the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes, insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation). • Records the acquisition of new properties. • Calculates the gain or loss on the disposition of properties. • Estimates the annual Taxable Income/Loss for all entities. • Responsible for the preparation of annual Financial Statements for Lenders. • Logs in all leases and amendments to assure that tenant's are billed timely. • Calculates lease commissions and bonuses. • Prepares billings for all Corporate fees. • Establishes accounting records to conform to loan agreement requirements. • Determines that all Tax Credits are properly recorded. • Prepares Monthly Event Schedules for Accounting department. • Coordinates the annual audits of required entities. • Updated Fixed Asset depreciation schedules for all properties. • Monitors cash controls for all bank accounts. • Obtains the release of funds from lender escrows.

Job Requirements

Interested candidates must have a CPA or an MBA as well as at least 10 years experience doing real estate accounting. Candidates must have commercial and residential experience as well as strong supervisory experience. Candidates also need to have MRI experience.
