Process Engineer

Our commitment to R&D and expertise in materials science allows us to be a leader in Science and Technology. We just announced immediate plans to invest $500 million making new glass products for the pharmaceutical industry.

We need a Process Engineer with a background in materials chemistry to expand or melting process capabilities in our plant located about 45 miles south of Philadelphia.

As a result of our collaboration with major pharmaceutical companies, this plant is expanding rapidly creating may opportunities for advancement.
We will assist a great candidate with relocation.

What You Will Be Doing

You will apply your fundamental understanding of materials chemistry and engineering principles to develop melting process capability through scientific methodology. Key objectives range from continuous improvement of existing processes, elevating process performance and interfacing with technology development.

Scope of Position:
•Melting system process set-up development, control and management
•Design and manage process experimentation
•Provide process engineering support to melting systems across all business locations
•Use technical analysis and analytical results to improve and troubleshoot processes.
•Interface with Research and Development to facilitate, support or lead trials of new products, processes, and technology
•Interface with Plant Engineering to facilitate the introduction of new processes, products, and technology into manufacturing
•Lead or support process and technology migrations across manufacturing locations
•Develop new technology to improve melting operations. New technology includes operational practices, raw materials, and process design.
•This role will involve 25 – 50% travel including travel to Italy. Most overseas travel will be for 1-2 weeks but an occasional project could be longer.

What You Need for this Position

Simply put, if you have a strong engineering background in glass/materials processing, we should be talking.

Here are the details of what we are looking for:

B.S. in Engineering required – Glass/Ceramic Science/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or Chemical Engineering preferred
At least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Understanding of materials science/chemistry to apply to defect formation mechanisms, understanding of heat and mass transfer, understanding of materials thermodynamics and kinetics
Statistical competency with understanding of variability, sampling methods
Understanding of glass chemistry and properties

We'd be really excited if you have:
Glass making, ceramic or other materials processing experience
Continuous manufacturing process experience
New product/process development or scale up experience
Statistical analysis skills and/or experimental design experience
Project leadership skills – vision, planning, and execution
