Kleinfelder is currently hiring multiple Construction Safety Project Managers for immediate employment in each of 5 Regions in New York State and New England: 1) Upstate NY, 2) Downstate NY, 3) New York City, 4) Boston, and 5) Providence.

Under the direction of the Construction Manager, the Construction Safety Project Manager will be responsible for providing support to the complex construction management team, project management team, and site supervisors. This position will provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day safety requirements of the assigned project.

This position will be based in our Client's local offices within each Region.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide support to the project by maintaining a visible presence in the field performing site visits to the entire project at least once per shift, if possible coordinate with the project manager.
  • Contribute to the protection and safety of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring that employee personal protective equipment, tools and equipment, and materials, meet safety policies and standards.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HS&E programs in the field.
  • Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
  • Organize and schedule required safety staff and first aid coverage.
  • Provide direction, support and resource to all site managers, supervisors, foremen and safety advisors
  • Assist Site Supervisors with reporting all safety incidents in a timely manner.
  • Participate and assist the supervisors, foreman and safety advisors in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
  • Ensure safety boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and safety policy, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, etc. are maintained and current.
  • Communicate, coach and assist the field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
  • Coordinate a regular meeting with project team to review issues, trends and upcoming conditions or events.
  • Support continual development of workforce by conducting Safety Assessments (SUSA's), coaching, performance assessment and appraisal.
  • Respond on site or via phone to off hour emergencies including Storm restoration, contractor damages, large scale outages, etc.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma, or Certificate or CRSP or equivalent experience
  • National Construction Safety Officer Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Rigging Certification
  • Minimum 5 years Health and Safety field experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications
  • The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
  • Ability to travel
  • Root cause identification training
