Position Overview:

The Employee Benefits Account Executive / Team Lead executes projects that maintain and build on an excellent client experience, including billing assistance, claims assistance, renewal processing, compliance and a broad range of benefits administrative projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to self-manage projects, and capable of managing a team of professionals to drive a consistent, unmatched client experience.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains client relationships while meeting specified client retention goals
  • Works closely with Business Development team to onboard new clients, administer carrier/vendor paperwork in a timely fashion, and execute projects according to client workflows
  • Coordinates and directs assigned client activities within client services team
  • Executes solid analysis, delivering creative and practical solutions for clients
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the clients' business and strategic priorities
  • Develops and executes the renewal and/or marketing strategy in accordance with client instructions
  • Leads and coordinates the evaluation of marketing results; develops and presents recommendations to client
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates client needs on an ongoing basis
  • Serves as client's valued advisor, building a strategic, and personal relationship with key client decision makers
  • Negotiates client renewals with carriers based on client needs
  • Educates clients on applicable legislation and market trends
  • Closely monitors clients and provides innovative industry solutions in line with clients' business needs and goals
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines
  • Actively engages with colleagues to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, and reduce costs
  • Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles or responsibilities, as assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years' experience managing multiple client relationships of increasing complexity in the benefits industry
  • Maintains current life, accident, and health insurance licenses
  • Technical knowledge related to the benefits industry including contract provisions, renewal process, plan details, claims
  • Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Computer proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Able to quickly learn CRM systems
  • Willing to creatively engage with new customer-facing and internal technologies
  • Demonstrates a high level of professional, verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
