Title: Production Technician

Location: West Sacramento, CA

Duration: 11 Months

Shift:  6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Job Description:

  • This Production Technician will perform a variety of assignments within a manufacturing environment.
  • These assignments mainly include but not limited to washing various size glassware, operating a validated lab washer, keeping the wash area clean, the lab area clean and assist with organizing lab supplies.
  • The Technician will be required to follow Company, Site and Department procedures.
  • This individual will be required to accurately record information within documentation while maintaining strict adherence to FDA, GMP and ISO requirements.
  • The incumbent will perform daily housekeeping of the production areas and equipment as required.
  • The Production Technician will be required to maintain up to date training records, support training of new employees and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Teamwork, attendance and an ability to adapt to change are critical for this position.

Boundary Condition/Authority Levels 

  • Normally receives instructions on routine work, detailed instructions for new assignments, provided by the Lead, Supervisor or Manger.
  • Maintain strict adherence to compliance, safety standards and standard work instructions.
  • Required to identify and implement process improvement projects using Lean techniques.
  • Responsible to ensure you have the appropriate skill, knowledge and training to perform the tasks you are assigned.
  • Communicate any Safety, Quality or production problem immediately to the appropriate level.
  • This individual has no responsibility or authority to conduct any disciplinary action. They are required to communicate any issues encountered to appropriate level.
  • This individual has authority to stop the production line and notify the appropriate individual for any concerns involving Safety, Quality or Production issues.
  • Support and maintain 5S activities in manufacturing areas.
  • Monitor and maintain minimum Training Requirements in EDMS.

  • The Production Technician follows written procedures and direction from a supervisor and/or lead associate to assist in the manufacture of diagnostic reagents.
  • On a daily basis the incumbent will assist with line setup, kit assembly, in-process quality checks, and use of manual and electric pallet jack to transport heavy loads, and housekeeping.
  • The incumbent must also be able to perform simple calculations, accurately complete documentation per cGMP requirements, keep up with required area training, and be able to learn setup and troubleshooting of simple to more complex labeling, filling and capping equipment.
  • The majority of each shift is spent assembling kits at a rapid/constant pace and transporting materials.
  • Success in this position requires above average hand-to-eye coordination and dexterity, ability to handle heavy items on a frequent basis, the ability to be mobile for the entire shift, the ability to progress to proficiency at the basic to more complex area tasks and require minimal direction over time, lastly, the ability to identify and communicate safety and process improvement opportunities for the area.
  • The incumbent will be working with and around heavy equipment, large pallets of materials and hazardous reagents. All associates in the area are required to be able to wear proper PPE including, but not limited to, hard toe safety shoes, safety glasses, and lab coat and nitrile-style gloves.
  • All but the safety shoes are supplied by the company
