Job Description

Job Title:           Accountant

Duration:          Contract assignment (3-6 months)

Location:           San Dimas CA

Pay Rate:           $25 - $27 per hour


  • Process and review information and data used to generate the monthly general ledger and attendant subsidiary ledgers, records and reports in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and applicable Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)

  • Assist with month-end closing including preparation of various month-end and quarter-end journal entries and daily entries in various system modules in compliance with GAAP, FAR, and applicable CAS

  • Gather financial data and prepare schedules in relation to proposals for new military bases and/or construction work at existing bases

  • Compile information for the monthly financial package for management at Corporate and subsidiary levels

  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis

  • Interact with internal and external auditors including development of analyses and schedules for audits

  • Monitor and continuously improve/standardize or recommend improvements to processes and controls

  • Help ensure adherence with policies designed to help maintain GAAP, SOX, FAR, and applicable CAS compliance

  • Prepare quarterly and annual filings and reports to outside agencies

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge

  • Some travel may be required

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field AND no less than 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 2 years of construction or cost accounting experience required

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting concepts, policies, requirements and regulations required

  • Proficient in the use of computerized office equipment and programs and demonstrated knowledge of advanced (Excel) spreadsheet functions required

  • Experience in government contract accounting, including working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and applicable CAS provisions, and understanding of DCAA and DCMA operations preferred

  • Good working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting for construction contracts is a plus.

  • Experience with JD Edwards software preferred

  • Good communication (both oral and written) and analytical skills required.

  • Ability to research, interpret and compile analytical data required.

  • Ability to build relationships with various personalities and work as part of a team to achieve business goals required.
