I.T. Engineer for Manufacturing Services Operations, One-year renewable Consulting Engagement


The THOR Group is seeking an Information Technology Manufacturing Services Operations Technician (I.T. IMS Technician) to work on a one-year (or more) renewable consulting engagement. Snapshot of Key Responsibilities

The IMS Technician works with enterprise manufacturing execution systems (MES) as well as with hardware and software. This Technician may also install, configure and maintain enterprise manufacturing execution systems (MES) for control, visibility and continuous improvement.

Work Tasks

  • Interact with customer to gather, define, develop/design, and support manufacturing applications and solutions 
  • Maintain internal customer communication, assuring timely status updates and issue resolution 
  • Maintain status of SME on specific area of knowledge by researching and keeping current with new and anticipated technology within their area and related areas of expertise 
  • Environment and application maintenance for manufacturing solutions including patching, monitoring, and preventative maintenance. 
  • Trouble-shoot complex applications problems or other IT problems that may have a significant impact on the business 
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications 

Qualifiers

Education Qualification

  • REQUIRED: 2-year degree and at least 2 years’ experience in Information Technology 
  • Desired: 4-year degree and at least 4 yrs. experience in Information Technology 

Experience Qualification

  • REQUIRED: 2 years working in a manufacturing environment 
  • Desired:  4 years’ experience in Information Technology 

Mandatory (required)

  • REQUIRED: Experience in a manufacturing setting 
  • REQUIRED: Experience in VB.Net, C++, C Sharp, .Net, Asp.net, SQL (SQL Server, Oracle), and IIS 
  • REQUIRED: In depth technical knowledge of windows-based PCs 
  • REQUIRED: In depth technical knowledge of windows server environments 
  • REQUIRED: Ability to work independently to develop, test, troubleshoot, and document manufacturing system requirements 
  • REQUIRED: Ability to accurately and effectively communicate the status of tasks 
  • REQUIRED: Ability to provide accurate estimates of the time and effort required to complete tasks 

Preferred / Desired (not required)

  • PREFER: Experience developing solutions for manufacturing applications 
  • PREFER: In depth technical knowledge of Camstar 
  • PREFER: Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and management 
  • PREFER: Ability to work with end users to develop requirements 
  • PREFER: Experience with statistical process control and control charts 
  •  

Terms of Engagement

  • Work Location: Painted Post, NY (all work must be done on-site)
  • Engagement Duration: One-year engagement with likely extensions
  • Start work date: ASAP
  • Compensation type: Call for details - W2 hourly, Non-Exempt (no C-2-C)
