Safety Engineer

General Scope:      

Assist in the overall management of the EHS&S Program through daily execution of policy, programs, business EHS&S objective and targets, and provide assistance for the development and implementation of ISO safety and environmental management systems for 4 manufacturing facilities and 3 support facilities totaling 640 employees.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead facility efforts to gain ISO 45001 certification
  • Maintain ISO 14001 registration status.
  • Implement and oversee the ISO Phone number blocked - click to apply Internal Audit Process
  • Track environmental metrics against corporate goals and provide periodic updates to corporate to support sustainability / customer requirements.
  • Collect and maintain data needed for government reports where applicable (i.e. Title V Air Emission, EPCRA Reporting, RCRA Waste Generation, conditions of site-specific permits). 
  • Assist with submittal of environmental regulatory compliance reporting and recordkeeping
  • Act as an environmental, health, safety and security liaison among the facility and agency representatives as needed
  • Conduct applicable EHS&S related training at all sites within the Paris Campus.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the facility Safety First Audit process. Follow-up as needed to assure that deficiencies identified as part of Safety First Audit are satisfactorily resolved.
  • Actively participate in incident and near miss investigation process to ensure effective corrective action based on root cause analysis.
  • Support the facilities’ property risk management program and work closely with plant manager to follow through with property risk improvements.
  • Serve as a SME for all safety and ergonomic teams and provide technical assistance for the team’s plant improvement plans.
  • Support physical security initiative to ensure all gap assessment findings are compliant with Dana expectations.
  • Provide additional professional Health and Safety related assistance to all disciplines when requested.
  • Conduct periodic industrial hygiene sampling for new or modified processes.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Job Safety Risk Assessments for all new or modified processes.
  • Participate in various assigned EHS&S improvement projects.
     
    Education:
  • BS/BES Degree in EHS&S or related field and at least 3+ years EHS&S experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a third party certified EHS&S management system (ISO 14001 at minimum).  ISO 45001 will be viewed as a plus!
     
    Required Skills:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills that allow the individual to express technical and legal information in a clear and concise manner
  • Proficient in computers and Microsoft Office software
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Experienced training individuals and groups on environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Must be an organized self starter with proven time management ability and good work ethic.
