Maintenance Assistant

The Towers Retirement and Assisted Living facility is looking a full time maintenance assistant with flexible schedule, weekend, and on-call rotations. The maintenance assistant is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures and utility systems of building and maintaining grounds, installing, servicing and repairing mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for all equipment in the community.
  • Responsible for maintenance of drains, access areas, grease traps, garbage cans, cooling tower and mechanical rooms.
  • Assists with grounds maintenance.
  • Investigates mechanical breakdowns and failures of machinery and equipment to determine cause and prevent reoccurrence by a preventive maintenance program.
  • Repairs emergency breakdowns in shortest possible time. Subject to after hours "on-  call" duties as assigned.
  • Paints, plasters and performs other work necessary to prepare apartments for leasing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess the ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral directions.  
  • Must possess the ability to perform minor repairs to machines, equipment, etc.
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical, air conditioning and plumbing equipment.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme heat, cold, wet, humid or noisy conditions.
  • Must be in good physical shape and mental health with the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 
  • Must be available on a 24 hour basis in case of emergency.
  • Must have one year previous experience in maintenance.
