Senior Plant Engineer

Provide engineering support to the site to identify and execute projects for maintaining and improving the production facility. This includes developing business cases and work scopes by collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, ESH and external resources such as product management. The Senior Plant Engineer will independently execute small capital projects and will act as Project Manager for medium and large site project teams. Execution of projects includes managing contractors during construction and leading commissioning and startup. The Senior Plant Engineer will also lead the site mechanical integrity program to ensure reliable and safe operation of the production equipment.


  • - Provide project engineering services required to prepare and submit Capital Appropriations Requests using the EPIC system. This includes project scopes, schedules, estimates and financial justifications.
  • - Implement and manage assigned projects such that schedule, costs and scope of project is successfully accomplished.
  • - Monitor, track and report project critical success factors as required to satisfy project goals and management requests.
  • - Work with procurement to identify, select and manage outside contractors suited to perform the required work. Ensure quality work is completed in a timely and safe manner by supervising contract workforce and performing housekeeping and safety inspections.
  • - Select best-suited process equipment for applications by consulting experts, meeting with vendors, running trials and staying current on new technology.
  • - Maintain site mechanical integrity program and work with production and maintenance departments to meet Evonik corporate requirements. 
  • - Provide expertise during root cause analysis in case of production problems or incidents. Make proposals for problem solving and implement the proposals in coordination with production team. 
  • - Work with production and maintenance teams to reduce production cost, eliminate bottlenecks, improve capacity and improve quality.

  •  A minimum of a 4 year Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years experience working in a production or engineering environment.
  • - Demonstrated ability to communicate, plan, organize and document project requirements. Proven track record of success participating in or managing capital projects.
  • - Ability to practice good management skills required to direct and supervise contractors.
  • - Familiar with multiple engineering disciplines and common engineering tools
  • - P.E. license is a plus.
  • - The ability to understand complex technical processes and processing equipment.
  • - Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.
