Elevator and Escalator Mechanics help keep our services accessible, safe and efficient for the 5.6 million subway customers who ride with us each weekday.


This position offers a night and weekend salary differential, paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, a comprehensive medical plan and a pension plan.

JOB DUTIES: Elevator and Escalator Mechanics
maintain and repair electric/hydraulic elevators, escalators and associated electro-mechanical equipment. Clean and lubricate all components of elevators and escalators; keep records and perform related work. Drive a motor vehicle.

Special Working Conditions:
Elevator and Escalator Maintainers may be required to work various shifts, including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

A minimum of 3 years of full-time journey-level experience (fully trained, knowledgeable, proficient, and competent mechanic) repairing electric/hydraulic elevators and/or escalators, or the equivalent.

Driver License Requirement:
At the time of appointment you must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in New York.
