Job Requirements
- Operate 2 axis lathes and multi-axis mills
- Revise machine programming for multi-axis mill/turn machines including up to 5 axis equipment
- Making the parts are programming into the machine
- Perform programming of all programmable machines
- Holding fixtures for machining processes
- Test new machining/cutting tool technologies
- Cut or machine parts required for production
- Set up machines and tooling for operations
- Run all machine shop equipment
- Verify that machine and tooling requirements are setup according to programming requirements
- Perform some machine and tooling set ups on 2-5 axis milling equipment
- Perform online programming (at a machine control)
- Select tooling to machine part per specifications
- Fabricate machine parts from blueprint drawings on manual lathes and mills without supervision
- Programming multi-axis CNC machining equipment
- Build fixtures for machining or part production/inspection
- Using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
- Develop drawings for machined parts and tooling
- Identify opportunities to reduce part machining time by modifying programming
- Write and optimize CNC programs to create complex parts on 3-5 axis milling machining centers and 2 axis lathes with live tooling

CNC Lathe Programmer
8 years min exp. offline programming of med/large parts for the oil and gas industry holding tolerances to +/-.001" with critical surface finishes 3yrs min exp using Gibbs Cam programming software. Able to think like a machinist and create machine tool programs accordingly to achieve efficient cycle times. Use mathematical formulas to calculate machining parameters/dimensions. Assist machinists in cutting tool selection & problem solving if issues arise. Knowledge of reading, understanding and troubleshooting CNC programs and component drawing. Exp. in assisting management to improve cycle times to reduce lead times.
Desirable Experience:
Previously exp. as a CNC machinist or machine shop supervisor.
Programming long heavy components using large steady rests
Machining Oil & Gas components with Inconel 625 clad material
Knowledge in machining API ring grooves, threads, clamp hub profiles
Experience using Fanuc and Allen Bradley controls
Experience working in an environment using large overhead cranes
