GBL Systems is a leading system engineering and software development firm located in Camarillo, CA, with a 30-year history of developing tomorrow’s Electronic Warfare capability today. GBL specializes in the areas of Systems and Software Engineering, Electronic Warfare, Network Centric Warfare, Modeling/ Simulation and Avionics Development.

As part of a dynamic team, GBL Engineers contribute to all aspects of the software development process, which includes requirements definition, design, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, and in-service support to various US and Foreign Military customers. Qualified candidates should have a working level of understanding of software development, unit testing, peer reviews and configuration management. Successful applicants should have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in an embedded government/contractor team environment. Qualified candidates must be self-starters with the ability to work independently without close supervision. Applicants should exhibit excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills. Ideal candidates will be expected to mentor junior engineers and influence the structure of an established dynamic team. Work location is at GBL office in Camarillo, CA or Pt Mugu, CA depending on position.

We are in search of a Software Engineering Lead with a strong background in Cloud Engineer that can seamlessly mesh tech know-how with business acumen to help navigate program needs in a government provided cloud environment, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support and planning for our government customer. You will help our customers design cloud-based solutions, develop code for cloud native application utilizing Java and microservices.

Qualified applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Current active SECRET clearance is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) level.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage software developers to create modern microservice-based software applications in a Development Security Operations (DevSecOps) environment.

• Oversee software engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions.

• Plan, design, and develop applications in a cloud-based environment.

• Assist the government to manage cloud environments in accordance with security guidelines.

• Deploy and debug cloud initiatives in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

• Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.

• Develop, implement, and manage best practices for larger Cloud Engineering team.

• Manage, design, and build web-services in a cloud environment.

• Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations to the company and government leadership, as needed.

  • Requirements:

  • • Master’s Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience required, prefer Computer Science or Computer Engineering and/or engineering discipline equivalent, Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience may be substituted for MS Degree.

  • • Five years’ experience in developing software using languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Ruby.

  • • Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS and Microsoft Azure. • Three to five years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position.

  • • Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.

  • • Database experience, including knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, and related data stores such as Postgres.

  • • Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering.

  • • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.

  • • Working in Agile teams Desired

  • • Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus).

  • • Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker, DoD Centralized Artifact Repository (DCAR), IronBank, Kubernetes (K8s).

  • • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
