CSS is a private not-for-profit social/human services agency that initiates, provides and promotes services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families, within their communities, in order to strengthen their independence, self-esteem and ability to participate in and contribute to community life.
CSS is seeking a dedicated individuals to join our team as a Part-time, Direct Support Professional (DSP) working with adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. As a DSP, you would assist the individuals with achieving their individualize goals in the areas of activities of daily living skills, community integration, medication management, economic independence and other areas outlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
Implement and document individuals’ goals and objectives.
Provide all necessary direct care services, including self-care and daily living activities.
Ensure the maintenance of individuals’ rights.
Assist individuals to develop community supports, fostering relationships with non-paid persons in the community, e.g. family members, neighbors and volunteers.
Provide training to individuals in leisure skill development.
Provide support and problem solving assistance on an ongoing basis and at times of crisis.
Provide ongoing input to supervisor concerning assigned individuals’ behavior, health and well-being, and all other pertinent information.
Assist individuals with maintaining clean clothes and living space through prompts and communicating with nursing home faculty, making certain that a schedule has been developed and followed for laundry and housekeeping needs, as needed.
Monitor individuals’ health needs and for those who self-medicate, making certain that they are accurately taking their medications.
Maintain positive interactions with individuals, family/guardians and co-workers.
Schedule: evening and weekends
Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Position requires the employee to have access to a motor vehicle, to have a valid driver’s license, to provide a current certificate of automobile insurance, and to transport individuals as needed.
Completion of DSP certification training within 120 days of hire.
Prefer applicants with at least one year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
