HEALTH UNIT COORDINATOR

SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN

Shriners Hospital has an immediate opening for a Health Unit Coordinator in the Outpatient Department.

Position Purpose:

Primary functions include telephone triage, ordering of supplies, maintaining appropriate paperwork, validating clinic charges and maintaining various spreadsheets. Responsible for monitoring clinic flow/throughput and obtaining outside test results. Acts as care companion for OPD patients. Attends meetings and completes minutes as indicated.

Specifications:     (Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

High School Diploma or equivalent GED

Must be flexible and organized

Ability to type accurately and neatly

Proficient in Word and Excel

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Ability to work and communicate with physicians, fellow staff members, various hospital departments, parents/families, pediatric patients, volunteers

Ability to greet and serve patients, families and visitors in a manner conducive to positive customer relations

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment
